Simple Sugar Cookies

This was by far the best sugar cookie recipe I have ever tried! This is now my go to for sugar cookies. Simple, quick and they were super good! You don't know how long I have been searching for a recipe for sugar cookies for decorating! Now I have to work on my decorating skills. Remember you have to chill the dough at least an hour, I made mine and threw it in the fridge overnight. Perfect!

2 1/2 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup butter (only use real butter-softened)
1 cup sugar
2 egg
2 Tbsp milk (I used heavy cream)
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg, milk and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Combine dry sifted ingredients and gradually add. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill 1 hour.
Roll 1/2 inch thick and cut into shapes. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 325-350º for 5- 8 minutes. Don't let them get brown. Let cool a minute or two and transfer them to a wire rack. I just iced them and decorated them.

Icing:
3c powdered sugar
2 Tbsp milk
food coloring
Add what you need to make it the consistency you want - more water for a thinner icing and more sugar for a piping (thicker) icing.

Enjoy!
It's Saturday, go join the party!
