Black & White Cake Cookies

Came across these beauties at Jamie Cooks It Up the other day and really wanted to try them. Go here for a step by step show :) I had all the ingredients on hand and they were so pretty.....well.. Jamie's were anyway. I wish mine looked as pretty as hers but.... it's ok they still were delicious.  I will get that swirl down :)
1 choc cake mix
1 white cake mix
1 c butter
2 eggs
2 bags of choc chips (semi-sweet and white choc) or chocolate melts (optional)
Place butter in microwave to softened up a bit - you don't want to melt it completely because your dough will be too soft and will be too sticky to work with.
Add 1/2 of your softened butter and 1 egg into chocolate cake mix. Mix with mixer until combined. I used my hands - much easier. You will have a dough like batter now - set aside.
Do the same for your white cake mix - 1 egg, 1/2 c soft butter and mix until it forms dough.
Spray counter top with cooking spray and roll out chocolate dough with rolling pin into a large rectangle - to about 1/2" thick. Now press white dough over chocolate dough - use rolling pin to smooth top out.
Now just roll up jelly roll style - starting at long end. Use spatula to make sure dough is coming off counter and rolling. Mine stuck so make sure you spray generously.
Wrap dough tightly in saran wrap and refrigerate at least 1 hour.
Using a sharp serrated knife cut into slices about 1/2" thick. Place on a sprayed cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes. Cool completely on wire rack. Dip in melted chocolate - now wait for them to set up. As you can see I didn't dip mine but they were still great.
