Grape Jello Freeze

Big Daddy asked me why I never did anything grape flavored? I looked around and didn't find too much out there. Someone said they use to sell grape flavored ice cream but I've never seen it. Well hold on to your skirts. Here is the first of my grape flavored treats. My grape lovers loved it.

1 pk (4 serv) Jello gelatin, any flavor
3/4 c sugar
1 c boiling water
2 c milk
1 3/4 c Cool Whip, thawed
2 drops of red food coloring (opt)
2 drops of blue food coloring (opt)

Dissolve gelatin, food coloring and sugar in boiling water. I used food coloring because I made it for the kids and it just needed to pop but it's up to you. Stir in milk (mixture will appear curdled but will smooth when frozen). Pour into 13x9" baking pan. Freeze until ice crystals form 1" around edge - about 1 hour. Spoon gelatin onto a chilled bowl, beat until smooth. Blend in Cool Whip and return to pan. Freeze until firm, about 4 hours. It was like making a granita but came out very creamy. You could even do sugar-free Jello gelatin and Cool Whip Lite for a guiltless treat!

This sounds like a really fun flavor. I seldom make grape flavored things!
