I saw this recipe somewhere and really love dreamsicles so, of course I had to try it. It had a really subtle dreamsicle vanilla flavor, I would add another drop of orange extract for a more orange flavor. A nice creamy fudge that would be great for gift giving!
2 tsp butter (for buttering dish)
2 tsp butter (for buttering dish)
3/4 c butter
3 c sugar
1/4 c whipping cream
1 -(12oz) pkg white choc chips
1 -(7oz) jar marshmallow creme
4 tsp orange extract
12-15 drops of yellow food coloring
5-8 drops of red food coloring
You can add more for a brighter orange or just use orange coloring.
Grease a 13x9" glass baking dish with 2 tsp butter -set aside. In a heavy pot blend sugar, cream, and 3/4 c butter. Cook over low heat, stirring until sugar is dissolved. I won't kid you, I thought my arm would fall off. Make sure ALL sugar is melted, stir until you don't feel any crunch and PLEASE do not put your finger in it to test!!! It will burn!! Not that I did that or anything.
Bring mix to a boil and cook for about 4 minutes.
Take off heat and add white choc chips and marshmallow creme - keep stirring until smooth (I know, I know, my arm hurts too). Spoon out about 1 cup and set it aside. Add orange extract and food coloring to your pot until well blended. This will be your orange mix. Pour at once into prepared glass dish. Drop spoonfuls of your white mix to the top of your orange mix. Using a knife, swirl white dollops into orange mix.
Cover your dish with plastic and refrigerate until set.
Cut into squares and enjoy!
