2 c Bisquick mix
1/2 c sour cream
1/2 c 7up
1/4 c melted butter
Preheat oven to 450ยบ
Cut sour cream into your Bisquick mix, then add 7up - it will make a soft dough. Now sprinkle your counter with a little Bisquick mix then add dough and pat it out.
Melt butter and pour it into a 9" square baking pan. Cut your biscuits up and arrange them in pan on top of melted butter.
Bake 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Oh. My. YUM Mikey! For real these biscuits only have 4 ingredients!!?? - I can't wait to make this recipe!!! :-)
p.s. Out of my excitement for the recipe I spelt your name wrong...I'm so sorry!
I'm guessing that addition of 7up will make these biscuits fluffier with a great lemony taste. I like this idea!
So glad you liked the biscuits - they are one of my favorites!
The biscuits look awesome. I tried them last night. I used LIGHT sour cream and I think it messed up the consistency of the dough. It was WAY sticky and unmanageable. I just put it in the baking dish anyway and they baked up fine and tasted great.
I tried them tonight. Very light and fluffy! I found the dough to be super sticky. I didn't pack the bisquick tight, so maybe that would help. So I just plopped the whole thing in the pan over the butter. Oh-the buttery, crispy goodness!
Tried these tonight and they are AMAZING! They are so good that I had to put a link to your recipe on my crafting blog, lol. Thank you for sharing with us.
Yum found this recipe from Bug Junkie's site. Making those tonight. Love your blog. Thank you for sharing. Wish you had a "subscribe to email button"...if you want to add one, go to my blog and take it off of there, it is free and that way we can get emails when you post!!!!
Looking to lighten up the recipe a bit... Anyone know if Greek Yogurt would work in place of the Sour Cream? Also, I assume the sugar in the 7UP helps with the rising of the dough? Could you replace it with soda or diet 7up to cut the calories down?
Could you possibly use club soda instead of 7-up? I'm corn syrup free so...
Bea: I think tonic water/club soda are ok but you might have to add a little sugar to get the same taste. Let me know how it goes.
mickey
Rave reviews from the family! Everyone loves these!
I don't know what I did wrong, but the dough was so sticky I couldn't pat it out or cut it. I just scooped it up and put it right into the pan.
I used Pamela's Gluten Free baking mix,Fage 0% greek yogurt and kept everything else the same. They were a great biscuit, not fluffy. My husband compared it to a cornbread density. We loved them.
Could you use Sprite instead? I'm too lazy to go to the store today...
I tried these last night but can't figure out what I did wrong, they ended up being drop biscuits since the dough was super sticky and was just a mess. They tasted great but looked really ugly. Any tips to make them look more like the picture?
For the sticky dough, you probably need to roll it in a little more Bisquick on the counter. I'm going to try with Sierra Mist today -- it's made with real sugar. Wish me luck!
wow these biscuits sound amazing. Yum. :)
I just made them and they were super sticky also. I let the mix rest on the counter for a few minutes and it firmed up. Once I poured it out on the bisquick that was on my counter, they were fine.
looks yummy, gonna make these next week when dh and i have our next "pinterest" dinner:)
Ive had this pinned on my Pinterest board for weeks &I finally made these tonight. They are super yummy! I used Sierra Mist(made w/Sugar) instead of 7 up, because I try to eliminate all HFCS from my life..& it worked fine. Mine werent as pretty as yours but I will definately be making them again & again! Thank you so much!
I can't wait to try these!
Could I use something besides bisquick?
One cup of Bisquick can be substituted by a mix of one cup of flour, 1½ teaspoons of baking powder, ½ teaspoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon of oil or melted butter.
making these tonight for my Thanksfiving shin dig at work tomorrow. I have miuintain dew, is that gonna work? We shall see! Its a litle sweeter than 7up. Its what I have on hand.
Found this recipe on Pinterest today. Made these super easy biscuts for supper. Since it is just 2 of us in the house, this will be an easy recipe for cutting in half. Thanks for sharing because I can NOT make biscuts from Scratch. LOL
My dad always had a secret to making his biscuits the best. He would put melted butter in the bottom of biscuit pan. after he rolled out the biscuits and cut them he would lay them in the butter, and then flip them over once more so that the butter bakes on both sides. so delicious!
just finished making them for dinner tonight. They were so good and easy. Thanks for posting such a great recipe.
I made these for supper tonight and they were great! I used Pioneer baking mix, fatfree sour cream and storebrand citrus soda. Since I haven't had them exactly by the recipe, I can't compare, but I think there is plenty of flexibility there!
I made these tonight with Non fat greek yogurt, diet Sierra Mist, and light buttery spread. They turned out great!
AWESOME recipe! Made them tonight with Diet Sierra Mist & Aunt J's mix as substitute turned out great!! Kids LOVED them not to mention my hubby who had 2 after his spaghetti dinner! Can't wait to try with actual ingredients to see if there is a difference and to have MORE!
OMG these are amazing! Sticky...yes, pretty...no, yummy.....YES!! Thanks for sharing your recipe.
These are wonderful !!! Everyone loved them... I had to make a second batch. Quick and easy too!!
Just made these a few minutes ago. They are terrific! Don't roll them out too thin. They won't be too sticky if you follow the directions and put Bisquick on the board and rolling pin.
Made these tonight -- super delicious. Crunchy and light. Thanks for this keeper of a recipe.
Found this, and made them 15 min later. Kids had left over spaghetti for supper but these biscuits more then made up:) I used Dt Sirra Mist and "Lite" sour cream, turned out delish:) Thanks again!!
Dear mama (lol Tupac reference), your blog is so yummy and I love your unpretentious, down home style! Keep it up!
This is my 2nd time to make these and they came out great, again!!! Tonight I added cheddar cheese for a cheddar biscuit to eat with our red beans and rice. It was a great pairing! Thanks for this recipe. Love it!
I tried these and they're amazing!! But do you know how many calories they are =\
I make these all the time and use about a half cup more Bisquick and they aren't as sticky. I also use Diet 7Up (or Sprite Zero) and plain Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. Also, no butter - just Pam to spray the pan :-) These are a family favorite!
For those of you who are gluten free, I just made these and they turned out really nicely. I did have to make the following changes though so the biscuits would rise more and not be super dense:
-Gluten Free Bisquick instead of regular.
-3/4 c 7up (I used the kind with real sugar)
-Added 2 eggs
-Added 1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar So the gluten free version actually has 6 ingredients instead of 4, but as those of you who are gluten free know.. that's really not bad.
Also forgot to mention.. The dough turns out more like a thick batter than a dough, so I made drop biscuits instead of patting them out. I made 9 biscuits in an 8x8 pan.
I am on a low carb lifestyle but will give this a try with nut flours like pecan and almond or maybe coconut flour. Will add 2 tsp of wheat gluten to the mix too. Should work.
I made these tonight using the heart healthy Bisquick and diet 7 up...the flavor was great, but they were flat as a pancake..LOL..has anyone had any success using the lowfat and diet ingredients ? Thanks for a super quick and easy recipe :)
Taste great!! They do not rise much so make them the thickness you want. Yummy
Taste great!! They do not rise much so make them the thickness you want. Yummy
I made these last week. It took no time to bring everything together. I did as someone mentioned, used an ice cream scoop and dropped in a 8x8 square glass dish. They smelled and bake up beautifully. I almost could not believe that I had actually baked them. Family came over and devoured what was left. This is surely one to tape the inside cabinet, as a go to.
Thanks!!!
Tiko
OMG!!! These are the absolute BEST!!! Love them! :)
So i read wrong and mixed the butter into the mix...in the oven now lol hopefully they come out good anyways...
I am going to try these tonight with a big pot of red beans and rice, I can't wait!!
Going to try for first time. Tonight. Wish me luck
Know what? If you plop it all into a pan instead of shaping it into bisquits and then you top it like a pizza and bake it, it's AWESOME!!!
Promise!
Going to try this recipe using Gluten Free Bisquick, hope it works. So hard to find a good GF biscuit recipe.
Bisquick makes a Glutten free mix. Let me know if it works out:)
Mickey
I am a lil confused on the directions...how do you "cut" sour cream in?
It's only a 1/2 cup of 7-Up. I can't imagine that the calories of that in a pan of bread is that much.
I was also a little confused as to what "cut" the sour cream into the mix. I'm not the most experienced chef but was not familiar with that terminology. Thanks for the explanation in advance!
I made these tonight as you directed. WOW! They were sooooo light and delicious! I put honey on top of my second one and it made a great dessert! Thanks for sharing!
I made these for my boyfriend and I. They were ahhhhh-amazing!! I used sprite. They were so light and fluffy and just perfect. :-)
"Cutting In' is a baking term used for biscuits or piecrust and consists of using two knifes or two forks or a pastry cutter is you have one. in this case you would drop the sour cream in tot he bisquick. now take two forks, one in each hand and pull them thru the sour cream mixture, each hand going in the opposite direction..like if you were cutting a steak. This leaves little bits of the sour cream suspended in the bisquick instead of incorporating it all into the mix as you would if you stir. Not a great explanation but you could google cooking terms and probably come up with a clearer one
How many biscuits does this recipe make?
I made these exactly as the recipe states, but with Gluten-Free Biquick. Sweet fancy Moses, this is delicious!! I used 7up and light Sour cream b/c that's what I had in the fridge. I did have to add a little extra of both b/c it just seemed too dry. They baked up perfectly in 15 minutes. I skipped the soup I made and had 3 biscuits for dinner instead. :)
I used the Jiffy Baking mix and they turned out fine, was still really sticky though and I had to use more of the mix; to be able to pat out and cut.....they turned out yummy......
I made these exactly like the recipe called for and they were so good! Couldn't ask for anything better! Making them again for dinner tonight. Only thing different was I used Pioneer mix but all the rest was the same. Not too sticky either. Thanks for a great recipe!
I was worried because the grocery store didn't have Bisquick so I bought Krusteaz pancake mix instead - - crossing my fingers...
The biscuits are fantastic. I didn't have 7up, so I used Vernor's. They were light and fluffy. Having them with our chili!!
Wonder how these would bake up in a muffin tin? Anyone tried that?
bBig mistake made using Hodson whole wheat baking mix along with eek yogurt and zero calories lemon/lime soda...came out dry.flat and not eatable....birds will have a treat tomorrow.
I have made these biscuits 3 times now, and the last time I made them, I dropped them into melted buttered muffin cups. I have also tried garlic butter...delicious!
trying these this weekend..if they turn out...they will be on our table at Thanksgiving ! Thanks for a new recipe...will msg back how they turned out....
Can you make these ahead of time, freeze them then cook them?
I am wanting to try these biscuits for the holiday. I have trouble using my hands, can I possibly use my mixer to cut in the sour cream? Maybe on a very low speed?
Amazing biscuits. Next time I won't press them at thin (1/2 inch) I will press them 1 inch, as they don't rise much.
Shellie,
I just used a steak knife to cut in the sour cream, easier than holding a mixer. I cut it until the pieces were about the size of a pinto bean. It was fast and easy.
These are wonderful!! I used healthy choice bisquick, light sour cream and regular 7up. After reading a few comments I let ours set about 5 mins once mixed together, put a little extra bisquick on the counter no problem with it sticking. I used a fork to mix the sour cream and bisquick and it turned out amazing! Will be using this recipe for thanksgiving! Actually used an 8" pan and added a little extra time.. Were perfect.
My daughter and I made the bisquits. My duaghter accidently put 2 cups of 7UP, and it was really gooey. Luckly, we had enough sour cream to redo it. They turned out great forbus and were really delicous!
My daughter and I mad the bisquits. At first, my daughter used 2 cups of 7 up. Luckly, we had enough sour cream to redo it. Otherwise, it turned out great for us!
I made it with light sour cream and diet tonic water. Came out really well.
I used fat free Greek yogurt and REISLING in place of the soda....didn't have soda lol. The stuffed them with sharp cheddar. Def didn't turn out pretty but they were delish!
Trying these tonight for dinner!
http://tudung-colorfulblogcom http://buyadipexx.wordpress.com/
Greek yogurt works fine. I think it was even better
Well, I read everyone's comments. I hope mine turn out. I kept adding bisquick because it was super stiky. I hope they turn out. They sound yummy. I just don't understand how they could be cut up from the dough I had.
I just made these tonight and they were great! I didn't roll out the dough. I just used bisquick on my hands and patted it out to the thickness I wanted and shaped the entire blob of dough into a square shape, then cut them into little squares. Worked great!
Just made these tonight! So delicious! I made the recipe exactly as stated except I half doubled it? errg I'm at a loss for words as to how much I made. I didn't double the recipe I just half doubled it...moving on.
After I had created my sticky dough I just poured half of my butter into my 13x9 inch pan and globbed my dough in there. I sort of mushed my dough out to the thickness I wanted which ended up so the dough wasnt touching on all sides of the pan which was fine with me. I then took a knife and dipped it in my remaining butter and went ahead and cut the dough into the pieces. (The buttered knife prevented the dough from sticking to my knife, I did have to keep redipping my knife in butter) After I cut my pieces in the pan I poured the left over butter on top and sprinkled some salt and parmesan cheese on top and baked at the designated temp and time.
It came out sooooo yummy! I think next time I'll mix some salt into the bisquick before adding the sour cream and maybe trying olive oil instead? We'll see :) Thanks for reading my lengthy testimony! Happy Holidays!

Breakfast biscuits with gravy or just jam? WOW!!! THANKS!
Just made these for dinner. Made 1 and a half times the recipe and used Diet Sierra Mist. Turned out perfect...no sticky issues. Just rolled with my hands in Bisquick to about an inch thickness, it made 10 biscuits. Very yummy!
These are the bomb. Very sexy, indeed. I'm going to make these again tonight.

Omg! These are absolutely THE best biscuits ever. The secret is not to over work the dough, mix it gently just enough to hold don't knead don't roll out, don't press, just "plop" them in that butter!

made these tonight, they were wonderful and i will be backing them again
Just made these and they are very good. I used yogurt instead of sour cream but the rest was the same. My dough was not sticky. I could eat the whole pan. Yum. I'm going to try Sundrop next time. You Southern girls know what I'm talking about.
Wow. I could seriously eat the whole pan by myself. Okay so I substituted 7Up with Sierra Mist and used half and half because I didn't have sour cream. I put the dough right in a 9" cake pan and used a knife to cut some lines into the dough before I baked it. Awesome! Will do it again!
I subbed int he reisling like another poster but it came out weird. DH liked it, but I thought the flavor was off. Oh well, it was either that or root beer which is the only soda I've got in the house! I'll have to try again. The texture was really nice though.
We subbed Diet Ginger Ale as we had no 7 Up. Came out great, kids want it again. They thought it was strange once I told them how I made it.
I wonder if you could use ginger ale with this recipe instead of 7 up?

Just made these with dinner & they were amazingly fluffy & delicious!!!! This is my new go-to recipe for biscuits!! The dough was a lil sticky, but I figured out that I needed to use a bit more Bisquick on the counter. Press gently on the dough to form it into about a 9" round shape then gently press the Bisquick around the sides. That made it much less sticky & easier to work with.
Just made these for lunch. Did not have Bisquick so made that homemade first. Did not have 7 up so used diet gingerale but not quite a half cup since so many comments about the dough being so sticky. They were very light and very good. Thanks for the recipe and now I will always make my own Bisquick. I will definitely use this recipe regularly. I always make sour cream biscuits, but the soda makes them a little lighter. I will be checking out your other posts.

Made these today for Easter dinner. I hadn't had time to read the comments before hand so I didn't realize others had found the dough sticky. I also found it too sticky to cut. I simply added more bisquick until it was the needed consistency. Everyone loved them. I'll definitely be making them again!

I made these tonight and they were wonderful! Thanks for sharing this great recipe.
My biscuits didn't look anything like yours. Your picture looks more like a moist yeast roll and my biscuits looked like white cornbread. They were moist and fluffy on the inside, but crunchy on the outside. Did anyone else's turn out like that?
I used plain Greek yogurt and ginger ale, they were awesome!
I used greek yogurt and sprite zero and they were great!!
How many does it make? I'm having a benefit in a couple weeks and don't know how many batches I need to make.
Becky:
This recipe made a little 9" square pan, so it made about 8 I think. You can double it for a bigger batch :)
mickey
These biscuits are great! Will make them again.
The biscuits are awesome. I always double the recipe. I use light sour cream and have to add just a little bit more Bisquick. Just be careful to dump out on counter covered with Bisquick and work in just enough to be able to pat them out. Dip the biscuit cutter in bisquick everytime you make a cut. I have never had a problem. They turn out perfect everytime.
Used heart healthy bisquick (think its new) thought I had 7up didn't had to use ginger ale! It was great light fluffy . Didn't roll out just put evenly in square pan with butter then cut with single chopper blade. Worked great! Will do again and again.
Have made these about 6 or 7 times and they are so good! I didn't change a thing, just went exactly by the recipe. Why mess with perfection? Thanks for a great biscuit!
=( I bought the ingredients last week but didn't see the 7up part. Has anyone made them w/ out soda? I wanted to make them this morning.
I did a low fat version and they were a hit! I used low fat bisquick, fat free sour cream, sprit zero and a low fat butter (yogurt based) and only used 1/4 cup instead of 1/2 cup. I made them as 12 nice size drop biscuits in a 10x10 pan. SO GOOD!!
I don't know about anyone else but my end results certainly do not look like the picture that goes along with the recipe. It tasted very good.
Can you use Ginger Ale instead of 7Up...it's what I have on hand.
Hi Mickey! Am I able to make the dough and get it ll ready in the pan, and leave in the pan for a few hours before baking? I have to work a few hours on thanksgiving and want to be able to just pop these in the oven!
These get requested for every holiday meal. So good and easy,
Theresa,yes I believe you can.
Anon: not sure about making them ahead of time, let me know how they go.
mickey
I followed the receipe but the mix is very sticky and i was not able to pat the dough out. Amy suggestions?
Kristina,
They are pretty sticky, try sprinkling a little Bisquick on your hands or surface. You can always just dump them in pan and spread batter around and cut into serving sizes after its baked. Let me know how it goes.
mickey
I miixed up a half batch tonight. I cooked them in a muffin pan. Made five biscuits. I melted the butter and poured it unto the pan. I just scooped the batter into the pan with a spoon. They were awesome!!! This will be my new stand by biscuit recipe. They were light and fluffy. Just like KFC biscuits. Yummy!
Seriously.....you guys substitute almost every ingredient, then you ask what went wrong???? Heavy sigh.
If you stuck with the original recipe, you needed more bisquick on the counter or you could bisquick a cotton tea towel to keep it from sticking to the counter. You can wet your hands with cold water to keep it from sticking to your hands. down a
Probably the best recipe I've ever found and tried. These are beyond delicious and every single time I make them they get rave reviews from everyone who tries them. I have never made them without at least two or three people asking for the recipe and telling me that it's one of the most delicious things they've ever had. Super easy to make and you'll come away with accolades every time :)
I made these today exactly as the recipe states and they were delicious!! just a light and fluffy biscuit! I know I'll make them again!
OMG these are amazing! Sticky...yes, pretty...no, yummy.....YES!! Thanks for sharing your recipe. Lovely Read!
http://Total Beauty Tips
I doubled the recipe.
Plopped the whole thing in a 9x13 glass pan.
Used the back of a large spoon dipped in butter to level and smooth out the dough. It wasn't absolutely level, but that didn't / doesn't matter. I used a butter knife dipped in butter to cut the dough into square biscuits. Separated the buiscuits so the butter below them came between each a bit.
Popped them in a preheated oven......wow!
Family went crazy for them when they came out of the oven. Gone too quickly. Made mode for dinner....drizzled with honey....Yummers!
I made these biscuits last night to go along with my baked spaghetti. I followed the recipe to a "T"...they were absolutely delicious. Very light and fluffy. However it was a sticky mess and I was not able to roll it out, so instead I just scooped up each biscuit with a spoon and dropped them onto the pan with no problem. They turned out just fine. They did not brown as pretty as the picture, as a matter of fact they were ugly, but very good still. And for those of you who keep asking if you could use this or that instead of what the recipe calls for, just use what u want to then report how the recipe turned out.
Excellent biscuits!! Sticky to deal with, but well worth it!
I made them and they were delish the key is to make sure your sour cream and soda is ice cold!! and let it sit for about 2 mins after
mixing before you turn it out on your counter with a dust of bisquick and dust top of dough with bisquick as well ... just pat it gently and with a cookie cutter dipped in bisquick cut them out and place them onto the melted butter !!! p.s. your soda cannot be FLAT !!!!!! it is the carbonation in the soda that makes them fluffy and moist !!!
